Rob Miller (Founder) - I am a gay male, Been liveing in Ashtabula Ohio now for almost 3 years! I am originally born and raised in Erie Pennsylvania. I have been involved with many GLBT groups and organizations. I have also helped with many fundraisers and events held around the community! I was 14 years old when I finally came out of the closet. I told my family and friends and since then its been nothing but a relief to me! I feel like a whole bunch of stress and pressure has been lifted off of me! I have decided to make this group after seeing so much bullying and hatred online and even out in the real world! This group (LeTs Go Be Alive) was thought to bring the GLBT and Straight Supporters together as one, as I call a family. I wanna bring them all together for Networking, Friends, and Social Events. I want everyone to know who reads this that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. With this group you are part of our family! It Gets Better, I have had alot of bullying and hatred happen to me and now here I am to say It Gets Better, and with this family bond that we have, you will always have us to talk to and come and have fun with. Danette Mixer (Volunteer) - Aka George. I am a lifelong resident of Ashtabula. I was born and raised here. I was a bartender in the 90's for many years at Ashtabula's only gar bar The Leeward Lounge on Bridge St. During those years I was involved in many fundraisers and events that were held at the bar.
I came out of the closet when I was 20. I was lucky to have support from my friends and family,although I did meet opposition at times. Please know, that IT DOES GET BETTER!
I met my current girlfriend 3 1/2 years ago online. Thank goodness for modern technology!! LOL!!
I am proud to help volunteer for LeT's Go Be Alive! I am really looking forward to getting the ball rolling and bringing alive the community of NE Ohio. I have no doubt it'll be a rollercoaster of a ride...but when it's all said and done, I want to be able to say, "Wahooooooo, that was fuuuun!!!"
One of my favorite things to tell people is when I came out..all my friends would tell me.."oh we knew that" and my response was, "well, I wish you'd have told me, it would have saved me a lot of counseling!"
Dallas Harte (Grove City Chapter Organizer) - I am a 25 yr old gay male I was born and raised in Grove City Pennsylvania. I have lived here my whole life I see a lot of bullying and hate towards the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, I wanted to find a way to be able to get together a group and have a place for all of us to get together and socialize meet one another and just hang out and have fun, also I want everyone to know that it is true what my close friend and Founder of the Group LeTs Go Be Alive Rob Miller has said and also multiple clips including the one on our Home Page says It Gets better, I want to Help everyone know that it will get better and you are not alone and that’s what my chapter of the group as well as robs chapter is dedicated to do is help everyone understand that they are not alone so I am hoping that this all works out. I was 18 yrs old when I finally came out to my family and everyone took it well and said oh Dallas we already new that, But not all families are the same. I have not had a chance to be in any kinds of groups for the gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender community cause there is not such things in Grove city and I have live here for 25 yrs now so this group that I have created with the help of the founder of the main chapter in Ashtabula Ohio will be the first of its kind in Grove city and I hope that it does its job to help out everyone. So all in all I just want to remind everyone that You Are Not Alone and u will always have friends here at LeTs Go Be Alive and we will never turn our backs on you.
